Skanx And J5 - Holding Back (Remixes Part II)-Woofer Cooker

In this second round of remixes for Skanx and J5's Holding Back we find Belgium's B-Man getting ruff rugged and raw in his darkside tear out version while UK's X Nation gives us a moody dungeon vibe with a sub harmonic rumble that never lets up over a nicely chopped up amen break. Then Canada's Mat The Alien dives deep with his Roland tb-303 acid dubstep version. To end it off, we find Skanx adding some breakbeat science to Mat The Aliens remix and giving it a little more momentum with his future jungle twist. So, something for every taste with this release guaranteed to shake the building. After all....we are the original Woofer Cookers!

Oh, and did we mention there's a North Base album on the way?

Interview With Astro Duo

We understand you are from the Sirius star system, what is life like there?

Sirius is a binary Star system, we have 2 suns and our planet is much smaller than yours. In our culture we have no restrictions on our development, and have a greater understanding of Sound waves and their healing effects.

Tell us more about this Time, reality, oscillating internal navigational knowledge you possess, what is it and can we humans access it?

Troink is a craft that takes physical form once charged with sound waves. It is a super conductive magnet that opens inner pathways to outer space between the physical and non-physical worlds.

It’s also an ancient Universal Knowledge that all sentient beings possess within themselves, which is accessed directly though Sound waves.

You believe there is a controlling element within the population who seek to restrict the understanding of Sound Waves and their effect on Humans, who is behind this? And how do you intend to liberate us?

It’s uncertain if any physical entities are behind this, but its clear humans are restricted on many levels, although most do not realise.

Only the Individual human creator can achieve his or her own liberation.
Using sound system technology, we can create an Audio environment, enabling humans to unlock their own sacred geometry.
Reactivating the inner magnetic connection between physical and non physical so we may understand ourselves.

How do you find life here on Earth?

We like the people here - they are very powerful, creative beings in amnesia, forgetting they are the true creator of their own understanding. This means natural behaviour patterns are suppressed, and overrides their sense of being.

You say you have to remain anonymous, why?

Due too the sensitivity of this awaking potential, there is a risk of certain individuals wishing to prevent the exposure of the inner workings of reality. We want to minimise distraction from our physical presents.

How far have you progressed in your mission and what obstacles remain for you to overcome?

Our mission has only just begun, Building Sonic Pillars of Bass For Future Structures. We don’t recognize any obstacles; that’s a
Human constraint. We are all the self-manifestation of our own imagination.

The TROINK EP by Astro Duo is out on the 24th october, check out the video below:

Amiga Junglism-Hold On/Light-Bad Habit Muzik

For this release, Bad habit takes it right back to the roots and introduces a producer who is known and respected by many in his circles, Amiga Junglism. As the name suggests, AJ sticks faithfully to the classic machine that produced 100s if not 1000s of hardcore & jungle anthems, 2 tracks are on offer here, both with a 1992 style, phat chugging beats and super low and heavy bass with an old skool jungle vibe and when we say old skool, we mean real old skool!!! Right back where it started, make sure to turn these bad boys up loud, preferably in a residential area!!!

Radiokillaz-Kong EP-Radiokillaz Recordings

The Radiokillaz drop a fresh, phat and funky EP on their own imprint, we're loving the ragga vibes of the title track, classic jungle breaks, gunshot samples, huge subs and razor like bass in fine 'killaz' fashion!!! 'Peace' goes for some rolling electro influenced vibes and reminds me of the Ragga Twins & SUAD back in the day, of course there is a sick twisted b line in there too!!!

There is also 2 great DnB/Jungle tracks on here, the awesome 'Pressure' with its 00's techstep vibe and the super dope Ragga Jungle themed 'Bang Dead', these guys never fail to deliver, another excellent release!!!!

Interview with ESP, 36hertz Recordings

You have a tune out on 36hertz Recordings ‘Spread Love’ which is on the 140 rave tip and for a long time you have been a ‘behind the scenes’ man involved in a myriad of productions, how did this journey begin?

I grew up listening to everything from Motown to film soundtracks, Jazz and military music. I grew up in a small town but within trekking distance was the club Milwaukee's where the top rave DJ's could be found week in, week out. The first time I went I was mesmerised and fell in love with everything, not just the music but the atmosphere and the environment. After a wayward youth I settled down and decided I wanted to be more than a listener, I wanted to create too.

We understand you started out DJ’ing then moved into production, can you tell us a bit more about that?

I started DJing in the late 90s and then after a couple of years I decided to try my hand at producing and quickly discovered I enjoyed making sounds, more than actually making full tracks.. I focused on sound design and starting creating sample packs, at first they were given away free but then I signed to a leading sample provider and did content for them. I still have products out at the moment through them but I provide content for Studio Sounds now, www.sample-packs.co.uk.

So, what made you move away from producing sample packs?

Whilst the money was ok from them, I needed to focus on earning a regular full time wage. Being the computer geek I am, I moved into Web Design which I do now as a 9-5, and it was then that I created a site for 36 Hertz Recordings, and now I have a track signed by them. The lord does move in mysterious ways it seems!

Now I feel in a position to be able to make full tracks again and get them heard by the right people. I have been involved 'behind the scenes' with many labels and producers over the years and been burnt often, maybe that was a good thing though as since then they have all pretty much been visited by Karma! 36 Hertz Recordings is a well established label and I am proud to get a release on a label that has graced so many great artists.

Will you be mainly producing in the 140 style for now?

For the short term, yes there will be more 140bpm bits from me, but I'm also upping the tempo slightly to the more Jungle friendly 150s as well and see where that takes me.

Do you still do any DJ’ing?

I love mixing and push out studio mixes from time to time, not as often as I would like. In the future I may look to do more but for now I am happy with producing

Any last words and shout outs?

Yeah, a massive bigup to Vapour, Indigo Virus and the 36 Hertz Recordings crew and love to the wife and kids haha! I say that as they get driven round the bend by my music but without them it wouldn't be possible. Kids are a great track test, if they start wiggling you're onto a winner haha!

Serial Killaz-Dutty Sound EP-Sub Slayers+Exclusive Serial Killaz Interview For Future Jungle Blog

What led you into the world of music production?

A mutual love of music, especially Jungle and Drum & Bass. Although we only met ten years ago, We were both ravers and had been clubbing since the early 90's and like most people of the time, we wanted to become DJ's. We bought decks and collected records and would play at little local parties, trying to make a name for ourselves. After doing this for years, the next logical step was to try our hands at production. Graham started building a studio with a friend and I was already making music with my best friend at the time and had tracks released on various labels such as Back 2 Basics and Creative Wax. It wasn't until years later that a mutual friend introduced me and Graham to each other and we decided to pencil in a studio session together. So a few weeks later we hooked up, made a track, and didn't really give it much more thought. It sat on our computers for a while until I decided to send it to two of old friends of mine for a bit of feedback, those friends were Nicky Blackmarket and DJ Hype. I didn't hear back from them, until one day, about four weeks later, Nicky rung me and was very enthusiastic about the tune, and told me that he was playing it our regularly and that it was getting a really good reaction from the crowds. Around the same time, Hype also finally rung me with the same words of encouragement and so we decided to make it a regular thing. We made a few more tracks, hastily decided on a name, and the rest, as they say, is history.

How did you get involved with Sub Slayers?

We were just sending tracks out to DJ's as we always do and a producer we know, called Gold, who was already signed to Sub Slayers, sent a couple of our tracks to Jay at Sub Slayers as he thought he might like them. He obviously did, as he contacted us and asked us if he could sign a couple of them, which led to us completing the Dutty Sound EP for him.

Sub Slayers 26: Serial Killaz 'Dutty Sound EP' by Sub Slayers

And what inspired you to drop down the tempo for this new EP?

I guess it came from the kind of music we were listening to at the time, artists like Redlight, Toddla T, Major Lazer and the like were all making great music at a slower tempo to Drum & Bass and so in between sessions we would experiment with different tempos and slowly but surely these sketches blossomed into the four tracks that make up the EP.

Any last words, shout outs and big ups?

We say a massive big up to all our fans that buy our music and come to see us play at our shows, without you all our hard work would be for nothing. We must also shout out all the DJ's that support us by playing our tracks all over the world.

Lastly, we gotta big up Jay at Sub Slayers whom without this EP might not have seen the light of day. Big up mate!
